How we treat people is the true reflection of our own self-awareness

How we treat people is the true reflection of  our own self-awareness, integrity, and emotional intelligence. Even our negative behaviour towards others is the expression of our unresolved issues and negative traits within ourselves.

In our leadership coaching intervention, we emphasise the importance of self-awareness by practically coaching business leaders to “discover their oneself” by transforming and dismantling their acquired personality which we all acquire from our childhoods till date from our parents, class, culture, society, religion, law of land and latter from our education system and specialisation in study, job, career, business, profession and years of experience in our life.

Operating from acquire personality whatever decision we take in our life, career, business and relationship; the results is always going to be either “success, un-success and failures” and we never experience satisfaction and fulfilment in our life.

Operating with our oneself, in self-reflection we have the opportunity to understand the importance of treating others well as a reflection of our best selves.

Here are some of my personal observation how we treat people encompasses various aspects of our interactions and behaviours:

  1. Respect: Treating others with respect means acknowledging their worth and treating them with dignity. This involves listening to their opinions, valuing their contributions, and recognizing their rights and feelings.

  2. Kindness: Acts of kindness, whether big or small, show that we care about others. Simple gestures like a smile, a helping hand, or a kind word can make a significant difference.

  3. Empathy: Empathy involves understanding and sharing the feelings of others. It means putting yourself in someone else's shoes and responding with compassion.

  4. Fairness: Being fair means treating people equally and justly, without favouritism or prejudice. It involves making impartial decisions and considering everyone's needs and perspectives.

  5. Patience: Patience is important in building healthy relationships. It involves being tolerant, giving people time to express themselves, and understanding that everyone has their own pace.

  6. Support: Offering support, whether emotional, physical, or financial, shows that we are there for others in times of need. It helps build trust and strengthens relationships.

  7. Honesty: Being honest and transparent in our dealings with others fosters trust and credibility. It means communicating openly and being truthful in our interactions.

  8. Gratitude: Showing appreciation and gratitude for others' efforts and kindness reinforces positive behaviour and encourages a supportive environment.

  9. Forgiveness: Being able to forgive others for their mistakes or wrongdoings demonstrates maturity and a willingness to move past negativity.

  10. Inclusivity: Treating everyone with equal importance, regardless of their background, culture, or status, promotes a sense of belonging and respect for diversity.

By embodying these qualities, we create a positive impact on those around us and reflect our own inner values and character.

And this makes us experience peace, satisfaction and fulfilment in our life
